28th/29th June

The Ladies led the way again this weekend with a win against Twickenham. Hazel Wilkinson top scored in a consistent batting performance with 56no in a total of 185-5 and then took 2-20 as Twickenham were held to 129-9. For the 1st's our SEPL representative players Thara Perera (4-72) and Jimmy Taylor (61) were top performers but we were beaten by 124 runs by Totton & Eling. The 2nd XI lost by 1 wicket to St Cross II in a very tight match. Matt Branford made 39 out of 113 and Stu Wilson took 4-26 as St Cross edged to 114-9. Against our IBM neighbours Steve Cockram (69) and Nick Best (58) took our total to 210-9 but it wasn't quite enough as the opponents made the runs with 3 wickets to spare. Dave Worthy (4-59) and Ali Mortaza (3-39) topped the 4th XI bowling against Amesbury who made 227-9 which proved a few too many as we closed on 158-8.

The Sunday team had a close match against Woodgreen and lost by 2 wickets. Matt Branford made 48 as we totalled 179 and Chris Westbrook took 3-21 as the home team reached 182-8.
Apologies to Rob Goodchild who helped Colin Moore in last week's rearguard action and saw his efforts wrongly attributed!Rob Lutman who made 35no this time around pointed out the error of my ways.
